Dr. Claudia Pérez-Cruz, Ph.D., is a Principal Investigator in the Department of Pharmacology at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV), Mexico. She earned her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Göttingen, Germany, and has developed an extensive research career focused on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying brain aging, neurodegeneration, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Her research particularly explores neuroplasticity, synaptic and dendritic alterations, neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and the microbiota–gut–brain axis in aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Her group uses experimental models to investigate how diet, gut microbiota, metabolic factors, and cellular changes influence cognitive decline and neurodegenerative processes. Dr. Pérez-Cruz has an extensive peer-reviewed publication record and international research collaborations, contributing to the identification of mechanisms and potential therapeutic strategies for healthy brain aging and Alzheimer’s disease.
