Dr. Senthil Kumar Krishnaswamy, M.Pharm., Ph.D., is an accomplished scientist specializing in molecular biology, antibody discovery and engineering, protein therapeutics, and neurodegenerative disease research. He currently works with Astellas Pharma US in South San Francisco, California, following an extensive academic research career that included training and research at Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences, Japan, and New York University (NYU) School of Medicine, USA. His scientific expertise encompasses antibody engineering, phage-display technology, recombinant proteins, molecular biology, and the development and characterization of therapeutic antibody candidates.
His research has made notable contributions to Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, particularly through the development of antibody-based approaches targeting pathological tau and α-synuclein proteins. His work spans antibody discovery, engineering and characterization, blood–brain barrier-related therapeutic strategies, and antibody-based imaging of pathological proteins. Earlier in his career, he also investigated antifungal antibodies and phage-display-derived therapeutic molecules. His multidisciplinary experience across academia and the biopharmaceutical industry reflects a strong translational focus on advancing next-generation biologics and antibody-based therapeutics.
