Dr. Arun Prasath Lakshmanan, Ph.D., is a Senior Researcher at Sidra Medicine, Qatar, with extensive experience in molecular biology, clinical and preclinical research, and biomedical sciences. He obtained his Ph.D. from Niigata University of Pharmacy and Applied Life Sciences, Japan, in 2013, where his early research focused on clinical pharmacology, diabetes-associated cardiovascular and renal complications, oxidative stress, and molecular mechanisms of metabolic disease.
His current research focuses on the complex interplay between diabetes, obesity, nutrition, and the human gut microbiome, with particular interest in microbiome-associated biomarkers and metabolic health. His work integrates molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, microbiome analysis, and bioinformatics with clinical and translational research. He has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to research examining gut microbial alterations in type 1 diabetes, glycemic control, hypertension, and diet–microbiome interactions.
